Germany 2007
4 October 2007 to 13 October 2007
A quick review of the first trip to Germany.
Travel
The day we arrived and made it to the hotel.
Munich
We all went to Oktoberfest, where most partook in mases of beer and large pretzels. We visited a nearby cathedral, the town plaza, and then Dachau.
Heidelberg
The day was primarily filled with visiting Heidelberg Castle and its city.
Castles
Visiting Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein Castles.
Stuttgart
We spent the day shopping and walking around.
Ulm
In Ulm, we visited a monastery library and the Ulm Munster cathedral.
Rothenberg ob der Tauber
This is a medieval city with its city walls and a torture museum.
Hanau
We went in search of the Brothers Grimm house and after hours found the rock that remains.
Heidelberg
A final day of shopping before departure the next day.
Germany was great! I love their recycling, which is mandatory or else you are fined (that's how it should be!), and it's still rolling hills with lots of forests and small towns nestled at the foot of each hill. Of course, Herr's favorite is the public transportation, but we drove most places (my brother rented a six seat Mercedes). Taxes are already calculated into prices (thank you!), food is healthy (even McDonalds and its McDonalds Cafe, weird…), ice cream is awesome… a good deal of the population could speak some English too, but Herr helped a lot with his German.
